Sr. Unix Systems Administrator/ Sr. Core Developer (Critical  Responder, Scalability Evangelist)

• Provided technical leadership on Unix, PHP, MySQL, and system scalability to teams of Web Developers and Unix Systems Administrators.

• Designed and implemented Highly Available load balanced LAMP architecture supporting  application that serves over 150,000 concurrent user sessions and 9 million individual accounts, processing peak loads well over 2000 transactions per second.

• Created custom PHP Memcache wrapper class “MemcacheCowboy” to prevent expiration “stampedes” on backend database servers.

• Completed successful critical software upgrade rollout projects such as MySQL 4.1 to 5.0, PHP 4.3 to 5.1, and Apache 1.3 to 2.2.

• Designed and Implemented custom, redundant OpenBSD firewalls utilizing CARP and pfsync for firewall redundancy, and connected to HSRP routers for gateway redundancy.

• Configuration and Tuning of large, centralized, high concurrency Master/Master MySQL servers with a symmetrical replication fanout for read scaling and backups.

• Implemented F5 BigIP load balancers including custom iRules for URL based request routing.

• Developed custom automated server build system using Subversion and Bash Scripts to expedite new server setup and provide consistent upgrades.

• Created internal “ServerManager” tool to unify systems monitoring, configuration management and data distribution using simple calls to HTTP urls.
